Actor, Comedian, Athlete, ActivistAt the age of four, Henry Holden contracted polio during the 1952 polio epidemic, but his physical disability never stopped him for excelling in life. As an actor, athlete, stand-up comic and activist, Henry possesses a vivacity for life not found in most. Henry has experienced more than most 'non-disabled' can ever hope to. Whether engaging in horseback riding, SCUBA diving, or skiing, Henry demonstrates that people with disabilities are certainly not unable. Challenging himself to experience life as an athlete paled in comparison to the challenges he would face when he decided to pursue his love of acting in the most competitive industries. With all the 'pretty faces' to choose from, how would this man on crutches compete? Compete he did, and with crutches in hand, Henry developed a comedy act which landed him a spot on a late night show in Los Angeles. From that point on, Henry has been under a spot light and he uses his microphone to enlighten people about the fact that there are an estimated 50 million Americans with disabilities waiting to be recognized and treated equally by the media and entertainment industry. |
